Add a Facebook Like Box to Your Blog

heros share

There is no doubt that people love their facebook. You might be thinking that it would be a good idea to connect your blog to your facebofacebook on computerok account to let visitors have another way to know when you have added a post. You would be right. When a reader likes your site then all their facebook friends will see it too.  The process is fairly simple. You might have to adjust the width setting to accommodate your sidebar.

Go to Facebook’s Social Plugins and you’ll see this on the page:

social plugin graphicFill the left column out. To find your URL, click your name on your facebook page. Copy that URL address that appears and paste it in the first box. Since every blog has different width sidebars you will have to see what works for yours.

I would suggest to show faces because people like to see themselves on others websites. But uncheck show stream. The widget will look cleaner and uncluttered.

Leave border color blank.

Click get code. That is what you will copy and paste in a text box in wordpress and html gadget in blogger.

When you get plugin added to your site come back here and leave a link. So we can see and like your blog.

  • Perfect! Thank you so much I have been wanting to do this for awhile now and was struggling finding just simple directions! Thanks, now my blog is all set up!

  • One thing I did add was to uncheck show stream to make it look a little tidier.

  • Great plugin and great explanation. Thanks a lot for sharing this with us. I haven’t created my fan page yet. I should, I know. But I like to focus in one thing first. I don’t want to start everything at once. I like to take step by step. That’s my approach to learning and to growing.

Thanks again and have a great day!

  • When I add mu Facebook URL it says:

Could not retrieve id for the specified page. Please verify correct href was passed in.

    What am I doing wrong?

  • Is this for a personal fb page or fan page?

  • Hiya. Thanks for this excellent and informative post. I haven’t done it yet as I thought it might be better to have a fan page rather than mixing it in with personal stuff.
Mind you, as no one knows me, I might get no fans at all!! LOL
    Best wishes,

    • Aunty Ann It will take awhile to build but can be done. Keep letting people know about the fan page.
